This page is intended to list meeting details, including who will be attending.
It is also a space that the meeting minutes will be recorded in the interests of transparency.
Tuesday 19/05/09 Roz
I added this as a discussion to the page rather than on the page a little earlier today ...Ideas for Agenda:
Comments to each person's contribution/section
How to link together for Saturday ie if more detail required, etc
Ideas for presentation on Saturday
Tuesday night 19/05/09 Have just read everyone's stuff and it's great - well done!!! And yes, we have some overlap...it's hard to write just one part isn't it?!
A thought for tonight: if everyone thinks about whether the parts they have written address the WHAT (outline of features), the WHY (justification) or the HOW (educational rationale) I think that might help us sort what needs to go where!!!??? It helped me when I went through it...(and of course the storyboard/blueprint is in a separate category altogether). MG
Hi everyone,
Are we meeting on Today'sMeet tomorrow night at 6.30pm again?
If we are, do we have any agenda items to cover off?
-SG

Thoughts for Tonight's Meeting
Sounds like it was a great meeting folks and that TodaysMeet worked a treat! I'm sorry I missed it and looking forward to tonight's meeting (I really just click there???)
Something I'd like to throw out for all to consider....this morning when reading Terry Anderson's stuff on elearning I wondered if perhaps our learning community could be designed for TEACHERS of elearning ... a teacher:teacher interactive professional development and support place that is about learning to use social media (or just Twitter) in education. So, the online community would link teachers with this interest for their knowledge growth/networking/discovery - and still be a scholarly community of teachers (Anderson 2008 again). I got quite excited about it, and am not attached! Thoughts? MG

Agenda: For Group Meeting.
(Taken from the Group task Assignment outline, please add and refine.."Design a model for an e-learning community" is the question we need to answer)
1. Colloborate on the "Brief Outline" of the key features of "Twitter".
2. Ideas, Designs for a Model for an e-learning community. (Group think-tank..limited to 140 characters) maybe?
3. Divide up group to cover the following aspects of the Group Task
a)- Justification for considering "Twitter" as a collective learning opportunity.
b)- Educational Rationale for "Design Elements", informed by our experiences and readings.
c)- The Story Board Blue Print that represents the e-learning community design.
4. Timelines/deadlines - when everyone should have their sections written by.
5. Arrange when our next meet will be, if it's decided we need one.
Please amend! Just Ideas.. Denise (and Sarah tagged point 4&5 on afterwards - thanks Denise)
Outcomes of Monday Night 11/05/09 Meeting
We thought that our community would be adult learners in a tertiary course as this is something we are all familiar with.
We decided that Twitter is to act as a hub for conversation and sharing, with other deeper acitvities coming off it through links. For example if someone writes a blog post they would tweet the link, if someone takes a picture they'd use twitpic or flickr. We also thought that starting a twibe would be a good way of maintaining the conversation in the group, and for private meetings, both scheduled and unscheduled we'd use a Today's Meet room. Imagine this as a spider with Twitter in the middle and everything else connected by legs.
We thought that the role of a technology steward or moderator would be pretty important in terms of motivation and ensuring everything was on track, and that activities, along with moderation style would change as the course progressed.
**Note from me about things that I want to remember/think about for tomorrow:
Something we need to address is why we are using Twitter and not a closed system like Yammer (corporate equivalent of Twitter in a closed system). It could be as simple as that we want people to develop their own personal learning networks, or that there is wisdom in the crowds, or that the essence of social media is that it is open and social... we need to think about that.
Our learner profile will have varied levels of digital literacy, and many may be more comfortable in a closed environment (think about our class discussion about blogging in Ning versus blogging in public) - how does our model address this issue? what can we do within the model to assist learners to overcome this fear?
It is also a space that the meeting minutes will be recorded in the interests of transparency.
