1. What we like most about group work:
- Sharing of ideas and backgrounds
- Soundboarding
- Learning from others
- Learning new perspectives
- Broadening horizons
2. What we dislike most about group work:
- Controlling group members, no democracy
- Closed mindedness
- When people don’t pull their weight
- Differing work ethics
- Not seeing progress – unable to work to own timeframe
- Members not adhering to deadlines
3. What makes a good team player?
- Synergy – working towards the common group goal
- Someone who contributes
- Good at integrating ideas of others
- Open to others’ ideas/perspectives
- Respectful of others ideas/abilities
4. What makes a bad team player?
- Member who doesn’t contribute/does minimum possible amount of work
- Intolerance
- Close-minded
- Can’t follow guidelines/take feedback/criticism
- Doesn’t meet deadline
5. Grade hoped to achieve for the project:
-We are all aiming for an HD
6. Strengths:
- Narinder: visual/filmic
- Sarah: writing justifications/storyboarding/editing
- Mandy: Ideas, concepts, links, sourcing, writing, editing, proof reading, project management, enthusiasm.
- Roz: Testing and analysing, proofreading, experimenting, learning new things, knowledge of learning styles and theories
- Shelley: familiarity with the technology and culture in question, passion for collaborative learning
- Denise: familiar with wikis, comfortable with technology, good at organising people
7. Weaknesses:
- Narinder: elaborating, justifying, writing up long stories
- Sarah: lack educational background/theories outside the course
- Mandy: Not good at delegating, can be too detail oriented
- Roz: New to the technology in question
- Shelley: particular, problems with brevity
- Denise: very busy, work long hours, ideas sometimes of large, un-doable scale
. 8. Arrangement of meetings?
Bit of a mixed bag over whether we want to meet f2f or online, though a general consensus that we should catch up regularly online to keep the project flowing.
9. How are decisions made?
- Consensus of democratically, considering the strengths and weaknesses of members involved. Due to time constraints, it’s been suggested by most of you that there be a focus/leader if we hit a deadlock on a decision and as I’ve kind of fallen into the role as it is so I don’t mind doing that if I have to. I am new to this project management thing but I will do my best!
10. What if a group member’s work is not up to our standards?
- Encourage each other
- Stay in regular contact, monitor the workflow
- Communication, communication, communication
- Any issues raised as soon as possible
- Clear, upfront expectations
- The wiki will reveal all in the end.
