Welcome to our Wiki. We are edutweet, a group of Masters students at UTS consisting of Roz, Shelley, Denise, Mandy, Sarah and Narinder. We have designed a model for e-learning in a collaborative context based around the social networking tool Twitter. The basis of our model describes Twitter as a hub with numerous features or e-tivities coming out from this hub. We refer you to the Key Features page for more detail on this. For a graphical representation of the model, please see theBlue Print for edutweetpage.
Why Twitter? The accessibility, speed and brevity of 140 characters makes it easy to use, easy to read and allows the user to find information relevant to them without having to read large slabs of text. From a theoretical perspective, we place our model broadly within the framework of social constructivist learning theory and refer you to the Rationale page for more details on this. Furthermore, we have considered learner profile and readiness, the role of the moderator and the nature of learning activities as Design Elements in our model.
This model and wiki was constructed using only the tools we describe - this wiki itself, Today'sMeet and Twitter. We have collaborated on this assignment entirely without face to face meetings, nor did members use email or teleconference to share ideas. We utilised Today'sMeet for group meetings, Twitter for brief communication between members and the wiki discussion boards for brainstorming and other collaboration.
Note
We have opted to list all the references used on this wiki as a separate page for consistency and ease of reading. Displaying the references like this allows a reading list to be generated without having to scan through each page of the wiki. See References page for all references.
